Today I almost had an accident. Do you ever wonder how many times you are saved by a guardian angel? I have often wondered that. I know that we as children of God have protection and I have a strong feeling that there are many things I've been saved of, of which I had no idea! Then there are times that God allows me to see that I've been saved from something. This latter happened to me today.
I have this nasty habit of texting sometimes while driving. I know, I know, I know, I should NEVER do that! I love to multi-task. I would do well in the family of Cheaper by the Dozen. The book that is, not the movie! I'd be giving Mr. Gilbreth some competition as to who can get this or that done the most efficiently! Even if it means buttoning your shirt from bottom up to save a 10th of a second! Well, I have had so many close calls of nearly driving in the ditch or clipping a mailbox or crossing the middle lines, all because of texting! Each time I resolve to do better and each time as the scare wears off I am back at it again! I often wondered if God is gonna let something bad happen to me because I just don't seem to learn from all the gentle warnings He's given. Well, today it got so close to being bad!
I was on lunch break and headed to the Tanger Outlets. I was almost there when someone texted me. I picked up the phone and started replying. I barely looked down but in that tiny amount of time stuff was happening. I looked up to see that there was not way I could stop in time to not smash the pick-up in front of me. Of course I stomped on the brake but saw I would have to hit him but as quick as a wink I swung over into the left lane, which is a turnoff lane and was empty. I nonchalantly turned left into a parking lot (don't ask me what building was there as I have no idea!). I parked and sat there and shook for a few minutes. Oh, that's not all I did! I had to clean up some food! I forgot to mention that since this was my lunch break, I had a bowl of food in my lap which I'd been eating as I drove before the phone "needed" attention! I will still do that, because I don't really need to look down so it's not that dangerous. Anyway, the food ended up all on the floor, bowl was upside down. I had only eaten half of it! Waaaaaa! There went my BBQ ham sandwich, noodles, and california beans!
I had to smile at the Lord's goodness in the little details even. He could have let the food fall on my white knee socks or all over my dress. Then how would I expain that to my co-workers? How embarrassing that would be! However, He kindly saw to it that it missed that and hit my shoe and the floor! Little things like that do not go by unnoticed by me! Thank you Jesus!
So, now I wonder what angel was by my side this time! There had to be one there! I must learn my lesson before the lessons get more severe! I'm afraid next time there will actually be an accident. I must learn NOW before something happens!
If you ever drive by me and see a stupid looking grin on my face, it's probably because I have another habit that I do sometimes when I drive. This is a good habit though! I like to peer up into the clouds at a far distance and just imagine how the Rapture is going to feel! I can almost feel myself rising as I do that! Just staring at the sky and thinking that any second the Savior could draw me up there to be with Him! Oh, what a day that will be! I can't wait! I'm so glad He is saving us from the wrath to come. I know I jolly well don't deserve it but I'm grateful!
That's all folks!.............for now!
